School-level feature — managed within your school portal at
yourschool.deandesk.com.yourschool.deandesk.com/files (there’s no sidebar entry — open the URL directly or share it as a link). A companion video library of tutorial videos lives at yourschool.deandesk.com/tutorials.
Browse and search files
The Files page shows a search sidebar on the left and a results table on the right. On smaller screens the sidebar becomes a drawer — use the arrow toggle in the top-left corner to open and close it.Search filters
Click Search to apply the filters, or Clear All to reset. Filters are reflected in the page URL, so a filtered view can be bookmarked or shared.
The results table
Each file row shows the File Name, Author, Upload Date, and its Tags & Categories as chips. Clicking a tag or category chip adds it to the active filters — a quick way to pivot to related files. Under Actions:- The download icon downloads the file. Downloading requires a logged-in account — visitors see a Members Only prompt asking them to sign up or log in.
- The delete icon (admins only) removes the file after a confirmation dialog.
Who sees what
File visibility is controlled per file:
Browsing and searching the library is open to everyone (including logged-out visitors), but downloads always require an account.
Uploading files and metadata
Files enter the library through the Upload file dialog, which appears wherever you attach files in DeanDesk — most commonly when creating course materials, but also on assignments and events. Drop a file (or click to browse), then fill in the Optional details:
Good tags and categories are what make the library useful — they power the chip-based filtering on the Files page.
Files and course materials
Course materials and the file library share the same storage. When you create a course material of type File (see Course materials), the uploaded file is stored in the school’s file library, and the material references it. That means:- A file uploaded as a course material also appears in the library (subject to its visibility setting).
- Deleting a file from the library breaks any material that references it — prefer editing or removing the material instead.
Video library
The video library atyourschool.deandesk.com/tutorials shows your school’s tutorial videos in a grid with auto-generated thumbnails. Anyone can browse it; it lists videos that are public and in the Tutorial category.
