> This walkthrough uses the real DeanDesk interface with fictional school data and a calm, AI-generated English voice. It demonstrates the steps; it does not perform changes in your school.## Follow along**1. Start with one representative course**Select **Courses and learning material** in **School setup**, then **Open Courses**. The tool’s heading is **Bulk Edit Courses**. This step is omitted when academic tools do not apply to your setup.**2. Create a course row**Click **Add Draft Row**. Enter the course details and review instructor, term, schedule and access-related fields. Check the **Auto-save** switch before editing existing rows. Click **Save** for pending changes; the button may include the number of changed rows.**3. Or import a DeanDesk course package**Click **Import** and select a DeanDesk course package in JSON format. Review the detected contents, continue to instructor assignment, and assign an eligible instructor to every course. Confirm **Import** only after reviewing the mapping. Packages create new unpublished drafts; inspect warnings and partial failures before retrying.**4. Check learning material**Open the saved course from the course area. Review material order, files, assignments, dates and teaching access. A spreadsheet row does not prove lessons or attachments were imported. Compare a sample of the destination content with the source. Other LMS exports, PDFs and spreadsheets need a separate content mapping; do not upload them as DeanDesk packages.**5. Verify learner access**Use a designated learner account to confirm the intended course and material are available. Keep unfinished content unpublished. Return to the checklist, refresh the checks and mark **I reviewed courses and learning material** when the content and access are correct.> [!TIP]
>
> Course packages exclude student records, grades and submissions. Import or create people separately and verify enrollments afterward.## Video transcriptNow bring your learning experience together. If your school uses academic tools, choose Courses and learning material, then Open Courses. Start with one representative course before bringing in your full catalog. The Courses link opens Bulk Edit Courses. Use Add Draft Row to create a course, then review its title, instructor, term and schedule. Check the Auto-save setting when editing existing rows, and use Save for your pending changes. If you have a DeanDesk course package, choose Import. Upload the package, review its contents and assign an instructor to every course before confirming. Imported courses start as unpublished drafts. Other source formats need a separate mapping and review\.Open the imported or created course and inspect the material order, files and assignments. Confirm the intended learner can access it. A course row alone does not mean its content is complete. Return to the checklist when you have reviewed the learning experience.## More help- [Create and import courses](/setup/courses.md)
